Evergreen, Alabama Modernizes its County Courthouse

The Conecuh Courthouse in Evergreen, AL

The Conecuh Government Center in Evergreen, AL

In 2005, Evergreen, Alabama had to make a tough decision. Their old county courthouse was rundown, and needed approximately 10 million dollars in repairs. At the same time, Conecuh County was growing, and even with a fully repaired courthouse, they would still need more elbow room for government offices. Rather than pony up the 10 million, the industrious people of Conecuh County found a better solution: build a new courthouse. With the assistance of Stromberg Architectural, their brand new, modernized “Government Center” is even larger than the original, and they only had to spend $6.5 million. How did they get such great value? The answer is simple: GFRC from Stromberg Architectural.

Versatile, Inexpensive and Light-weight: GFRC Can Do It All

GFRC is a veritable modern marvel. Not only is it light-weight and inexpensive compared to traditional building materials, it is extremely versatile. In the hands of the experts at Stromberg, GFRC can be customized to emulate any other building material. GFRC can imitate expensive, lavish materials like gold and marble, but it can also appear to be something as basic as brick or concrete. Furthermore, because it is so light-weight, GFRC requires very little in the way of architectural support or special installation accommodations. This allowed Evergreen, Alabama to afford to decorate their beautiful new courthouse with stately columns, cornices and an architrave, all fabricated from GFRC.

Weather-proof and Durable: Leave a Lasting Mark With GFRC

The old county courthouse in Evergreen was classic, but the outdated building materials that were used to construct it required constant maintenance, and they were doomed to eventually give out. GFRC  has higher stability than other materials, and since it’s smooth, it requires very little maintenance. Furthermore, GFRC is extremely tough, so they won’t have to worry about it getting blown around in big storms, nor do they have to worry about it corroding due to exposure to acid rain and smog. The new Conecuh County Courthouse may be a modern building, but it is sure to leave a lasting mark on the county.

Benefits of GFRC: Why Stromberg GFRC?

  • GFRC is light-weight, low-maintenance and highly durable.
  • GFRC is affordable, and it is versatile enough to emulate more expensive building materials like marble, gold and granite.
  • GFRC is extremely weather-resistant and can stand up to high winds, acid rain and even hurricanes.
  • Stromberg GFRC will not rot, corrode or delaminate over time.
  • GFRC does not require specialists or experts to install.
